who I am & why I write

Trying to be in my twenties has no right answer, especially while surviving doing things on my own for the first time, navigating life and work after college, and attempting to travel and milk this time of my life for all it is worth!

Growing up, I was always a storyteller. Even today, telling stories is one of my favorite activities, followed closely by reading them and listening to other peoples’. I’ve never been at a loss for words, in fact I often find myself with an excess amount and nowhere to put them. Essays were my favorite assignments in school, mostly because writing is the easiest way for me to express my thoughts and explore my ideas. Throughout college, essays based on books were like my two worlds colliding. However, my dream of being a writer goes far beyond reading and essays. Post-grad, my experiences living away from home, being a teacher, and traveling have all led me to the same idea: there have to be more people to share stories with and maybe others will even relate to them!

My name is Emily Grant and I currently living in Phoenix, AZ, but grew up in California. After graduating high school, I left home to attend Grand Canyon University, where I majored in English with an Emphasis in Secondary Education and a minor in History. Once I graduated from college, I got a job as an 8th grade teacher and moved into an apartment with my friends. Now, I enjoy traveling and am constantly looking for opportunities to get out there. Spending time outside, especially by a body of water, is one of my favorite ways to spend my time, especially with my friends. Currently, I’m exploring my options for my future, and like most people in their twenties, I’m really not sure where that will lead me.

New Year, Same Old?

Change this year comes from within. I know that I need to see the clear, desirable end result to each resolution I set as well as how the action steps will benefit me. That way, the process of achieving is just as important as the achievement itself.

Planning a Quick and Affordable Trip to Ireland

Now, this trip is less than two months out and it’s about time to start figuring out the itinerary. Being a teacher affords me ample time to travel, but, unfortunately, not excessive funds. I make it a point to save specifically with traveling in mind, but I still need to be reasonable when it comes to planning. So, here is how I planned an Ireland trip on a budget:
